Q: What is recognition in international law ?
Ans: Recognition is acknowledging political entity of another state.
A state can not declare itself as a state or can not declare any territory of state as its territory.
When the International community provides the recognition of state, it will be considered as state.
It could be express, implied, conditional or premature.
Premature is generally a defacto recognition.
It is a declaration of existence of certain facts.
Montevideo convention 1933 says that the state has to have the four qualifications for recognition of state:
1. Permanent population
2. Definite territory
3. Government
4. Capacity to enter into relations with other states( sovereignty)
