International labour organization formation

Ans: The international labour organization was formed in 1919. The national labour organizations i.e., Indian labour committee and state labour committee.  The trade union federation also works for the upliftment of labours. 

International labour organization was created as part of treaty of versallies. There are 187 countries in ILO.

The formation of ILO was done in 1919.

ILO is tripartite body comprising of government, employer and labour.

The functioning of International labour organization is also divided into three parts:

1. International labour conference

2. The Governing Body

3. The international labour office

International labour conference: The broad policies of international labour organisation are set by international labour conference which meets once in a year in June at Geneva,  Switzerland.

This annual conference brings together the governments, workers and employers delegates of ILO member states.

The ratio of Government: Worker: Employer's delegate representative is 2: 1: 1.
